The Buddylicious Photoshoot

The Buddylicious Photoshoot

Ever wondered what happens on an animal photoshoot? Here’s the story of our exciting day in the studio with the stars of the Buddylicious campaign. Buddylicious model-doggies are carefully selected to represent everything our brand wants for its customers - happy, energetic and responsive animals. Our expert animal assistant Julika worked with the owners and carefully prepared in advance to ensure the dogs were welcomed into a calm and happy environment, with plenty of Buddylicious sticks and treats on hand. We want to help our doggies show their happiest selves in front of the camera, and we think you’ll agree they certainly did!

Our photographer Clemens Schneider designed the shoot with strong silhouettes and bold colours in mind to represent the vitality of a Buddylicious hound along with the fresh and individual thinking around the type of treats we supply. The studio was prepared with a range of striking, bold backdrops, a range of relaxing doggie beanbags, and of course a Buddylicious box of treats and sticks was on hand to make our new brand ambassadors feel welcome.

At 10am Julika, Clemens, Silvia & Janina greeted our first couple – Weimaraners Henry & Nora. Here’s what they had to say about working with them:

“Henry is a regal name for a regal animal. He posed like a pro with endless patience, appreciating consistent and gentle praise. The static poses suited his beautiful features and calm composure. You can see how he sticks out his big, plump chest, demonstrating his justified pride. His beautiful fur really cast a spell on us all and almost every colour suits him well. A spiritual experience to photograph!

Nora was a different character altogether – she wanted action from the get-go & was very playful. It was so much fun working with her – catching snacks in action shots and working with her overwhelming desire to engage. She was an extremely rewarding subject and made us collapse in laughter balancing treats on her nose. It was a joy to play with such a lively and curious animal.”

Having gifted our noble Weimaraners with a range of Buddylicious treats, Henry & Nora went off to the park for some well deserved fresh air, and we welcomed Aaron the Dalmation and Lucie the French Bulldog to the studio at 11:30am. Here’s what the team said about our next doggie-models:

“Lucie was a no nonsense girl, she marched into the studio and made it clear she wanted to be straight into action. Fortunately Aaron was a patient hound and lay down quietly to watch and learn.

Soon we were treated to Lucie’s favourite trick dancing: standing on two hind legs, she entertained the team for a busy half hour of parading and twirling in front of the photo background. When she indicated that she was ready for a break, we let her sniff around the Buddylicious box where she discovered the olive wood stick range. Completely consumed by the taste and texture one of the smooth and simple sticks she then lay contentedly on the floor with her olive wood for the rest of the shoot, watching from the corner of her eye as Aaron stepped up to the lights.

Aaron was another super active dog, up for anything fun. His eye-catching coat gave us lots of opportunities for colour play and he worked patiently with us as we tried out lots of different backgrounds and playful poses. These bold and striking photos were Clemens’ dream. In keeping with his vegetarian diet, Aaron’s owner rewarded him the Buddylicious yak cheese treats – and he thoroughly appreciated the intense flavour of these tasty bites.”

Lucie & Aaron followed Henry & Nora to the park for fresh air at 1pm, owners well stocked with a bag of Buddylicious treats, and Clemens moved to the editing phase of his pictures.
